Mehrazin Rezaei

Through an editorial lens, Mehrazin Rezaei’s journey emerges as a refined narrative of vision, discipline, and transformation. Her master’s research on costume in Iranian miniatures established a conceptual framework that continues to inform her perspective where history, culture, and form converge.

Professional and international experiences in the fashion industry

Mehrazin Rezaei’ trajectory unfolds as a layered narrative of vision, discipline, and transformation one that moves fluidly between art, fashion, and cultural inquiry. Rooted in an early foundation in graphic design and shaped through academic studies in painting, her practice reflects a sustained dialogue between visual art and fashion as parallel languages of expression.

Her formative years were marked by active engagement with the art world, presenting works in numerous solo and group exhibitions, where her visual sensitivity and conceptual approach began to take form. This trajectory culminated in her master’s research on costume in Iranian miniatures an inquiry that established a lasting conceptual framework within her work, where history, culture, and form intersect and continuously inform her design perspective.

Rezaei’s transition into fashion emerged not as a departure from art, but as its extension. Through fashion, she identified a more immediate and embodied language one capable of articulating identity through structure, movement, and material. This evolution ultimately led to the founding of MERA, a brand shaped around the concepts of motion, identity, and the return to self. Within MERA, garments are conceived not merely as objects, but as lived experiences expressions of a body in motion and a self in continuous transformation.

Following collaborations with influential figures within Iran’s fashion landscape, her practice expanded onto an international stage. Based in Turkey, she has worked alongside leading brands and manufacturers and served as Head Designer at Fashion TV Paris an experience that further refined her vision within a global context.

Parallel to her design practice, Rezaei operates within an editorial and cultural framework. As the founder of an online fashion journal and as a producer and host of fashion programs, she constructs a space where fashion is not only presented, but critically examined and interpreted. Her work engages with fashion as a cultural system intersecting with history, media, and contemporary identity positioning her within the discourse of fashion insiders shaping how fashion is understood today.

At the core of her approach lies an ongoing exploration of the relationship between the body, movement, and the self. In her work, garments move beyond functionality to become a medium of expression articulating inner states, personal narratives, and the evolving nature of identity.
